check out my new sidebar link (or click here) to get a look at the first few items i've catalogued as part of my pre-departure free yard sale. hopefully you live in utah and can score big from this opportunity to inherit all of my junk.
in other news i stumbled across a website for a japanese transgender support group here. looks like there are transgender conferences every two months just an hour away from where i'll be living! on a related note, i attended my first trans-support group last night. it was a huge emotional boost, since i've been feeling a bit isolated lately.

Hi Sami -- I'm sorry to hear that you've been feeling a bit isolated, and am glad the support group went well. When does the Japanese TG group meet? Your yard sale pictures and write-ups are wonderful. Hope you get lots of takers. Love, Mom
Hey. I recently ran across your blog and find it fascinating. I am exploring myself as well. I saw one of your older posts at http://mytgissues.blogspot.com/2008/07/mission-statement.html . I am just curious about what happened between then and now?
@E wow, that's a difficult question. i should right a whole post on this, but the short version is:
1) i had a spiritual awakening over a 6 month period of leaving mormonism.
1b) i didn't decide to immediately transition, which means there was more holding me back than just my religion.
2) i found a therapist that i felt 100% comfortable with.
2b) through therapy i began allowing myself to explore my femininity—as opposed to my prior "acknowledge it but keep it in a little box" strategy.
@E this page might also explain a little: http://tanukitalk.blogspot.com/p/tanuki-transgender-primer-and-faq.html
@samiko, i would love to see a post about it! I see a little of myself in your blog posts from a few years back and that is why I was wondering.
I am mormon but have few mormon friends. Most of my friends are not mormon. But the few that are I would categorize as more liberal and more accepting. How would you say the general reaction has been from your mormon friends and family?
I like your blog and hope you continue to write! I want to follow your journey and see you to success and happiness! Along the way, I hope to learn something and possibly something about myself!
@E check back later tonight and i should have a dedicated blog post about it. it might be quite late though because i'm about to start a DotA gaming session...
